This door is the threshold of hell
tonight, I’ll be alone with you
when I know you’re not feeling so well
but I haven’t a clue what to do
when some days you feel like a king
and the next, you’re cast down from your throne
Who knows what each morning will bring?
I’m afraid to be with you alone

This door is the threshold of hell
and I know that you’re mad and depressed
but must you pull me down as well?
I’d give all for one moment of rest!
And tomorrow you’ll feel like the king
of the world, but the next day I’ll find
that your feelings are so wont to swing
and I think you are losing your mind

This door is the threshold of hell
Are you angry today, or worse yet,
has your happiness started to swell
to a manic degree of upset?
There are days when you feel like a king
but more often than not, you’re a fool
and I feel like I’m tied to a string
that won’t let me escape from your rule

This door is the threshold of hell
Who knows what is waiting beyond?
What words will you use to impel
me to give in to you and respond?
There are days when you think you’re a king
but sooner or later you’ll find
you don’t know what the morning will bring
and I think now I’m losing my mind
