A consideration of clichés- particularly: Time Heals All Wounds.

This is the kind of senseless rabble that occurs in my head. It does get quite off topic.
If anything, this is just an account of inner-monologue.

Cliché .

An overused, hackeneyed phrase. Adage, corn, commonplace, boiler plate, bromide, buzzword, chesnut, banality, truism, triviality, triteness, rubber stamp, familiar tune, threadbare, stale... A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

People love clichés- particularly that one... What is it again?

'Time heals all wounds'. Yes.

Clichés.

Effortless council; they are eternally repeated, often said in the ripe of hypocrisy, and as welcome as a skunk at a lawn party (I'm sorry, I'll stop now). What most people fail to see is that the majority of clichés are true.

'Time heals all wounds'.

It's amazing what even the smallest passage of time can accomplish. Cuts can close, imperfections are smoothed over. But I suppose in the end it comes down to the size of the wound- doesn't it? Some wounds go too deep. Some wounds can't help but fester. Some things do not heal, even if you have all the time in the world.

What about the wounds that lie beanth the surface, unnoticed? The infection, the cancerous cells that are unbeknown until we search for them. We'd all like to think that we're strong- that we're capable of fixing our own problems. Stitch ourselves up. Sometimes we're right... Sometimes all that is needed is focus, direction and our own will to make it through. But to solve a problem we first have to acknowledge it exists. To fight the infection- to treat it; we have to atleast be aware that the infection exists. Sometimes your most challenging obstacle isn't circumstance- it isn't some external force or someone else... It's you. In the end most of us don't have the strength to face the music, to admit that we're flawed. You can't save yourself if you don't know the danger you're in.

Sometimes we see the damage and want to repair it- put a bandage on it. But it's not always that easy. A quick fix doesn't always work. Once you open some wounds, you can never close them. Some people see the damage and ignore it- even welcome the festering. Some people welcome the wound. Some people cause it. Think about it- why do we insist on looking, when every impulse inside of us tells us to look away? Maybe it's because we all have something to hide- that thing we bury deep, deep down in the darkness with everything we are. We're secretly hoping to see that the monster inside each of us is inside of us all. It's there if you look hard enough. You're looking now aren't you? See. In all honesty I think we all self-harm.

'Time heals all wounds'.

Looking back on this now, I see that I'm relishing in the ripeness of hypocrisy. It's so effortless, contradicting yourself. We'll, I'm sure that some cliche's are true; however, the truity of this cliché is debatable.

Abandon ship...
