There was once a man
Who lived in mountains high
mangy was his mane
And madness in his eyes

He once may had fame
But now he can't remember
For he paid dearly
For a greed
For the golden ambers
For he paid dearly
For a greed
For the golden ambers

There was once a man
Who lived in the low meadows
Once mighty was his hand
But now he's but a shadow

He once wielded battle-hammers
Now his wielding beakers
For he paid dearly
For a fondness
For the potent liquors
For he paid dearly
For a fondness
For the potent liquors

There was once a man
Who live there, near the sea
Once had much gold and gems
But gambling was his glee

He had riches more then plenty
Now he "lost his pants"
For he paid dearly
For a love
For the games of chance
For he paid dearly
For a love
For the games of chance

There was once a man
Who lived in a small farm
He had not gold nor gems
And came through lot of harm

Locust, plague and pillage
Was the fate of his small village
But he was pleased
As a man
Who fulfilled all his wishes
As a man
Who fulfilled all his wishes

“I need not more gold for life”
the peasant said with glee
“I needn’t gem to give my wife”
She already loves me

“I have some cows to give me milk.
and sheeps to give me wool,
so why the gold,
u rich men have
is worth more then my gruel
so why the gold,
u rich men have
is worth more then my gruel”

and so the four men walk their paths,
each one, in his own way.
those rich in gold, aren’t always those
who bliss touch with his way.
