Immortality has to be earned. Eighteen year old Echo Tallon has finally and absolutely turned to only herself for reliance. Orphaned at birth and failing to be adopted before legal adulthood, Echo has been forced out of her cold orphan home and into a even colder apartment in a rundown ghetto apartment building.
If not knowing anyone there and barely able to make tips isn't hard, what is she supposed to do about a few housing neighbors who make things that much more uncomfortable.
Willow Spencers, known as the mysterious Will, and her rarely seen older brother Nathan, as well as their friends (not even comfortable enough to mention the little foster girl Abigail, who's creepier than her teddy bear, whose mouth it sewn shut), all seem to be covered by a depressing aura and magnitude so dark it's like trying to see them through a dark cave being blind.
But Echo has never been one to simply leave one suffering, or one to let another treat her like she's just an untouchable animal.
Driver by a fuse lit by too many years of ignorance, a hint of insanity, and a burning intuition that something in abnormally wrong in this small apartment complex, Echo, one of strange things, is about to find out why she is who she is...
..and how that's about to save a lot of people...
