Long ago demons started to roam the earth, the church buried this by creating the devil and crucifying the nine million women who discovered the truth. They were called witches for having half a brain. Not getting on their knees in front of any man who wanted pleasure. For using herbs that scared the church, giving the ability to see the now invisible demons.
From the destroyed souls one man was born. The creator of the Keepers. From his own blood he bore three other powerful keepers and so forth. The keepers were part demon part human. Watching the world from their new found reality they protected humans seeking protecting from the now animalised demons. The price is their soul.

Some keepers are kind. Many are cruel. Few care for the life of the contracted; they only care what they can twist from their new found slaves. The contract extends to the children and family in the event that the contracted should perish before repaying the debt. Thus the Keepers own the world with an iron fist. Yet Humans are too stupid to realise, realise the danger now posed by the keepers and their different views. Like Humans the Keepers themselves have fallen to War.
