Mahogany light shines from your eyes

Twinkling in the moonlit night

So peacefully we sit

Lapping up stories and secrets

From the pool that closes tonight.

Drink it while you can

For tomorrow it will be frozen

Concealing its mysteries

The distinction between truth and lies.

We are running out of time

Before it all shuts down

Packs up for the night

And freezes us in our places.

Trapped we will be

Just out of reach of each other.

But still we can’t leave

Drawn in by the ripples

Our eyes transfixed on the unknown

If left for tomorrow we might never know.

What once lay on the surface

Will sink out of our depth.

But I can’t be the only one

Playing with your mind

You have another poison preference

You’ve longed for it for too long

And I’m just your fallback plan

She seeps into your heart and jumbles your thoughts

Feeding your addiction

But still you crave for more.

And now my thoughts are a mess

Taking sides and starting a war

Your happiness against mine

I know I can never win

Destined to be alone

But still I hang onto hope

Maybe when your drug makes you sick you’ll see

Maybe then you’ll see

Me
