Schindler’s Camp, by M-chan

Bodies packed together in groups, as if in a sardine can.

Clumpy lines, separated into men and women.

An imposing figure stands out among the soldiers, looking kind but commanding.

Everything is hazy, clouded by fatigue.

Yet, afternoon sunlight shines through the fog, as if this is an average day.

Ominous, dark shadows belonging to soldiers say otherwise.

Harsh voices shout for us to hurry, or else they will hurt us, kill us even.

Women try to stifle their sobs, and the sounds come out strangled.

Whispers are silenced by the thump of a body hitting the dirty path beneath our feet.

Will we die here, at the hands of the horrible Nazi soldiers?

Is the man over there the famed one, who will save us?

How long will we suffer before he rescues us from this horror?

Dread at the thought of what awaits consumes every one of us.

Shock that this could happen so suddenly paralyzes us.

Hope that the man name Oskar Schindler will save us remains at the back of our minds.

Deliver us from this nightmare…

Deliver us from this nightmare…

Deliver us from this nightmare…
