Murder in the Dark

I see you

Oblivious to me

Or my whereabouts

In the deep-darkest of night

Unaware-of needing to take flight

You are in my very sights

Locked in

No one around to witness this

Me-dressed in all black

You-in light colored clothes

The thrill in me grows

As I sneak closer to you….

A car passes suddenly

I remained out of sight still-

Unbeknownst to you

I stepped from the tree

Matching my light steps with yours

I come closer and closer

No one around to witness this

As I don my mask

The tension rises

My senses heightened

I move in on you-with warning

I grab you firmly by the neck

Squeezing and Squeezing

Like a boa constricts its prey

You try to move

But my hands round your neck tighter

and tighter

Your eyes even in the dark

Get whiter and whiter

As they move towards the back of your head

Legs kicking less and less

With each moment my hands squeezing your neck

And less….

And less…. And less….

Until there’s that final breath

Your legs stop moving

And the last thing you see

Are my eyes…

Faceless, clueless

Nameless individual

Dead, by my hands-literally- staring at them intently

I feel…nothing as I leave your

Lifeless body in the dark

Out of sight until the morning light

I’ll be far out of sight…

Out of mind

Until you’re found

Murdered, without making a sound

In the dark…
