I am a shell.
Pale, fragile
Created from time, yet empty
I lie in wait, in shadow and sleep
Suspended in memories, I turn to face the East
Hoping that I have one last chance
To make someone very happy.

Through velveteen paths I traveled,
Caught by the light and cast against walls
I waited for moments that were never there
And found others that answered
In shouts and whispers
Who I am.

How does the shell,
So pale and fragile,
Get to meet its destiny?
Why, it does no more but complete
The equation, the adolescent growth
Reuniting past with present
To cut into a vivid future.
