Observations right before bed. Very experimental style; no set pattern, but not freeverse either.

At night,

Colors swirl around me

Until they blend together.

Deep in the darkness,

Outside I hear the weather.

Everyone is fast asleep.

From them, I hear not a peep.

My computer makes a humming sound.

Something falls from dresser to ground.

Pink walls are repainted by the dimness as

gray,

And purple curtains are seen as darker

gray.

The light is out and colors are

no more.

How many minutes have passed?

Two, three, four?

Glances around

My sacred domain

Become more nervous.

Every sound

Is no longer plain,

But possibly ferocious.

After a while,

My breathing settles.

The nighttime smells

Soothe me.

The light scent of dinner,

A candle,

Incense.

My eyes droop closed.

My body relaxes.

Sleep

Has

Come.
