Probably my best work, written in a darker time of life, when I messed up pretty bad. Shows the pathway to forgiveness that one must walk, and how difficult it can be.

I walk this road,
The darkness around me,
And I think how much better
This walk could be.

The road is hard,
It's cold and it's rocky.
It's unforgiving at it's best,
And comfort would be shocking.

On either side of the road,
Trees of every shape and size.
Tall ones, with thick trunks,
And some just barely able to rise.

The road is worn flat,
Walked by many before.
I've been this way myself,
And I know it will leave me sore.

It's a long walk,
That has to be taken alone.
While some may offer comfort,
I know it isn't home.

Home is where the heart is,
So my home is with her.
So I perservere,
And will make it to my destination,
With time to spare.

The road will be long,
The journey, perilous and hard.
But I do this for her,
So our love will be left unmarred.

I want no tears.
No ripping, gashing, or staining.
So I journey alone,
Down the road to forgiving.
