The Last and First Kiss

The tears ran down her cheeks, like the rain outside the window she had been staring out of for weeks.

"He will not make it through the night." That is what the doctor said. She has watched him suffer, but her heart would not accept that by morning he would be dead.

Taking his hand in hers, she whispered in his ear, "It's OK, I understand, You can't wait for me this time dear."

He squeezed her hand and pulled her close, and with his final breath, they shared their last kiss. The feeling that was left with her was total bliss.

Many years have past since that dreadful night. Now it is her time to go towards the light.

As she laid upon her hospital bed, she felt someone take her hand, and in her ear, this is what was said.

"It's not OK my dear, I had to wait for you. It's been that way since we said, " I do."

She squeezed his hand and pulled him close, and with her final breath they shared their first kiss. Now towards the light they travel, side by side and hand in hand to eternal bliss.
