A poem about domestic violence

Why! A poem for Sandy

She stood in Heaven in the presence of God, beauty surrounded her, but she could not behold. She knew she should not question God, but she had to know, she would be bold.

Tears flowed from her eyes as she looked upon his grace. "Why Lord, why did you not answer my prayers, as he hit me again and again in the face?"

"All the times he would beat me and pin me to the wall, I would scream, Dear God help me! Why did you stall?"

"When he put that gun in my face and I screamed please God no, and he shot me anyway, where was you on that particular day?"

He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her tight. " I was there child, I kept you in my sight."

"When you was in the hospital, I sent you a kind nurse to talk to you, give you strength and tell you what to do."

"You used every ounce of strenth you had and left him, vowing you would never return. He came crying, begging, telling you he was sorry, and you went back thinking his lesson was learned."

"The times you would scream for me, the neighbors I would wake, but when the police would come, you would send them away and no charges you would make."

"When he pulled that trigger, I was right beside you, and I could not stand it anymore and I knew what I must do."

"I brought you back home to Heaven my child, where you would be safe and hurt no more, and with all the angels in Heaven you shall soar."
