A poem about the modern state of the world and how amongst all the horror and carnage the sound of one person crying for the loss of a loved one can be lost.

No matter how many people are killed or wounded in a conflict each one has a person who sits and cries for them.

Like ripples on a lake the tears and misery spreads out from just one person crying.

Alone I cry for you

Time hangs heavy in the air
My heart lies silent in my breast
Silenced by a thousand voices crying
And alone I cry for you

Barren is the winter now around me
No warmth to break the bars of solitude
Just a thousand voices crying
And alone I cry for you

My mind is rushing head long
Inside I want to scream
A thousand voices screaming
And alone I cry for you

Sirens wailing through the night
Hatred spat upon the city
A thousand people dying
And alone I cry for you

Funerals crawling past my window
City centre bomb blast
Department store death
And alone I cry for you

Frail judges sit in judgment
Blind justices scales tipped away
A thousand people suffering
And alone I cry for you

New names for old hatred
Neoism is a new white face
A thousand people cleansed
And alone I cry for you

Time will tell how we will fare
As the pendulum swings from side to side
Reapers justice will prevail
Then who will cry for you ?
