The child with the world in her eyes

If I could see the world through a child’s eyes
The world is myriad colours
A kaleidoscope turning with each passing day
A joyful dream made from a rainbows sigh

Every day a new adventure to be found
A shiny pebble is today’s best toy
The babbling brook giggles its laughter
Teasing dangling toes with its joy

Every cloud is a shape to be seen
Rain brings puddles to splash in
Snow brings snowmen and more games
The wind is made for kites bright and fun

Childs eyes see the world pure and clean
Refreshed by each passing day
A world anew reborn with innocence
Water colours paint the sky a vivid blue

I see the world in my child’s eyes
She is every child playing the day away
Her laughter is the babbling brook
Her smile is the sun that lights my days

She is the light that keeps me young
She brings my smile when I have lost it
She cradles the world in tiny hands
And shares its wonders with me

She feels the pain but embraces the joy
Changing like the wind she soars
Holding my heart tender fragile in her hands
She flicks her hair and is gone to play

If I could give the world to her
For safe keeping and to mend
She would kiss it gently on the cheek
No more pain for the world to bear

A child holds the promise
A future untold, a tale unread
Embrace the joy a child brings
Rejoice in the wonder they hold

Feel the laughter they bring
The happiness they hold
No need to ask for a share
They give it willingly

A little girl with the world in her eyes
So beautiful and innocent
She is treasured above all things
She is the wonder and she is the hope.
