 The Poet and the Truth

Here lies a Poet haunted by a ghost
Who followed him around whispering in his ear
“what is the truth ?” it asked
“Ah” said the Poet “The truth is love and love is the truth”
“But love can be false”

The Poet thought about this
“If God is love then God is the truth”
“Ah” said the Ghost “but what is God”
To which the Poet replied “God is love”

The Ghost paused for awhile and howled at the wind
“Oh why do you ask me such questions ?” the Poet enquired
“I seek merely the truth” the apparition replied
“but first to know the truth you must know what is false”

Here lies a Poet haunted by his dreams
He moans and howls at the wind
“Why can’t I find the truth ?”
To which the truth replied
“it’s best that you don’t know”
