HIV stands for Human immunodeficiency virus. It is transmitted by sexual intercourse, blood transfusions and contaminated needles. There is no current cure for HIV. HIV causes AIDS which stands for Acquired immune deficiency syndrome. AIDS destroy your body's immune system which will make you more vulnerable to other diseases such as the flu, cold and pneumonia. There are rarely any symptoms of HIV because they are very much like the flu's symptoms. HIV is NOT contagious through casual contact such as hugging and shaking hands. The difference between HIV and AIDS is that HIV causes AIDS which in other words means that HIV is the virus and AIDS is the definition. You can avoid HIV by not having sexual intercourse, blood transfusions and needles. You can take medication to help relieve HIV. These medications help slow down the growth of the virus but it doesn't kill it.
