An original poem inspired by the subjectivity of perspective. With this poem I wanted to explore themes of friendship and support, as well as those of greed, solitude, and self sabotaging, and how
they interact with each other. I also sought to illustrate themes of uncertainty and a feeling of "what could have been," in a more tangible, visual form, represented by literal paths.

The driving force, the power to strive
The unseen friend; in unity thrives
The maxim of achievement, the height of prose
Exists not in a singular pose
Yourself; the vessel, the beginning, the pond
The wind of others will push you beyond.

The tangler of webs, rotter of chains
Life observed through a frosted pane
Convinced he has no use for emotion
Lobs used corpses into the ocean
His horse he gored to prolong his life
Now the journey ahead is burdened with strife
A fiend mimicking a gracious heart
Has long torn his own conscience apart

While a well travelled path bends to the west
A man I've met swears the forest trail is best
The route you choose will reveal your heart
And yet some end just as quickly as they start
With the whispering gale, lady luck sighs
She knows that at the end of all ways, everyone dies.
