A A A

Days in a daze

Nights in nothing but a haze

A pill, small in my hand

A drink, cold to wash it away

My heart screaming this isn’t the way

My head promising it’ll help me survive

Just a little smoke, a little smoke

One more puff one more pass

Then maybe I can cope, maybe I can cope

Empty words

And an empty soul

Vacant eyes

Stare out of a face of stone

Cold and numb

Can’t feel the pain

Blind to all emotion

Whispers around me

Eyes pry, trying to see

Hands reach out to touch

To save

Too late, I have fallen

I’m too far down to rescue

You’re late, and I’m too far gone

To a place not even you can reach

Words echo in my mind

“Why do you care?”

Aching to scream

“You can’t hurt me now.”

Dying to know

“Where were you?”

a final cry

"Where were you?"
