Chapter Four: Restricted Area

To the pilot and co-pilot of the CH-53E, this was an easy-peasy task. They had handled these massive helicopters through anti-aircraft guns and missiles and had lifted huge, massive guns and damaged aircrafts. They were so relaxed, that they didn’t notice that they were flying away from the city and into the woods, and that the ground below was becoming unusually dark and misty.
Kelvin and his men were bored. They had no idea how long the flight would be so all of them just dozed off, all except one. Alvin was restless. He had unassembled and reassembled his sniper for a dozen times and had polished the scope for a hundred times. He practiced his aiming by aiming at each of the soldiers who were sleeping. The helicopter was silent except for the humming of the motors and rotators. It was way too quiet just before a mission and Alvin had a bad feeling about this.

Back at the front of the helicopter, the co-pilot checked their course again and found out that they were only thirty miles from their destination. He turned on the broadcast system. His message boomed into the back of the helicopter.
“We will reach our destination in fifteen minutes, be ready to untie the cables as soon as we land.”

This made all of the other people woke up suddenly and Danny basically fell on to the floor in shock. All ten of them howled with laughter as the helicopter slowly descended at a patch of abandoned land that might have once been an airstrip.

When the Hummers were unloaded and the helicopter had taken off, the Rifle Squad climbed into the vehicles and, using the maps found at the back of the Hummers, drove off for their destination.

After half an hour of driving, the Squad saw, with the help of the moon light that shone through the thick mist, a set of buildings with a dim glow glowing through the windows. On the map, it was indicated that the “mess” made by the army was there. After the Squad had cut the engines of the Hummers and put on their night vision goggles, they began to approach the buildings in an umbrella formation, the alert formation, quietly. They knew that they had to find a way to sneak into the buildings without being seen. What they did not know was that something, something huge was looking at them from behind a bush through the nearly impenetrable dark, with natural-built in night vision.

As they neared the barb-wired fence surrounding the place, Kelvin held up his hand and knelt down. The rest of the Squad did the same, ready to fire at the first sight of movement. Kelvin signaled Justin to lead his team to secure their surroundings. Justin hesitated a moment and got his men, Adrian, Alvina, Kevin and Danny, into positions.

After the site was secured, Kelvin sent Kenny up to creep along the fence to look for a way in. Kenny was an expert in finding clues and would have joined the FBI if he had the guts, he didn’t. He crept along the fence and saw a sign that read “Military Restricted Area: Enter at Your Own Risk”. He didn’t care as this was a special mission, it would have been wiser, if he had informed it to his Sergeant. Next to the sign, he found a part of the fence that had fallen down. What he didn’t find, were the huge footprints leading away from it.
