I laid in bed, the brightly colored lights of cars beamed on the ceiling of my cold echoing room, I could almost hear my hear beat, feeling it alone. A cold breeze blew on my cheek and the feeling of pure emptiness filled my soul, memories of family, lost love, and old friends replayed in my mind feeling them somehow distant I pushed this thought away I wouldn't let such thoughts come to me, I'll find others that will love me... The shadow on the ceiling stared back at me piercing my soul, an ominous feeling of hopelessness set in. The shadow began to fill my field of view, the light from outside was snuffed out and the sounds of the world were blocked, colorful patters were seen behind my closed eye lids, icey blue to burnt red, somber black, to a cheery white of a Christmas day... Faces of people I knew began to form hallucinations of what could have been and what was impossible, I watched myself begin to form, everyone was around me, smiling, going on without me, I was so mad, how could they so easily push me away for new friends like I never existed, I yelled at them, they looked at my with blank faces and turned back to their conversation, I felt hopeless I fell to the floor and closed my eyes when I opened them I was at a park, kids would run up to me and asked why I was sad, I'd reply with \"I'm not sad I just want to find somebody to be my friend.\" Each kid would ask me the same question but none would stay no one would be friends with me, I began to become desperate, a lady came my way in a white dress, I begged her to stay with me, she smiled and said,\"isn't it about time you get home?\" I noticed it was getting late the sun was setting fast and I was feeling drained, but I was determined to find someone, \"No, I'm fine I'm just looking for somebody, anybody, please stay for a while?\" she laughed and put her hand on my cheek. I instantly felt alive and happy, \"I'll tell you what\" she gave me a big smile, \"there will be a lady here tomorrow at midnight when the full moon is glaring down and the shadow of the star is seen. \" and then she was gone I opened my eyes again, depression was setting in, each time I looked in the mirror my image was distorted, I'd try to clean the mirror but my distorted being still remained. I stared at it for hours I began to feel as though this image was truly who I was, as if a thing could label who I was... I took a deep breath and closed my eyes when I opened them I was back at the park, the moon was full, it almost seems to smile, maybe even laugh at me pathetically waiting for person to come for me. I looked down the path, to see nothing, I heard only crickets, no laughter, no kids, no emotion anymore, just silence . I waited a while more and she finally appeared from the darkness and fog, She wore a silky black dress, with black gloves, and had a pale face. She spoke like the wind and it cooled my soul, \"I've been waiting for you, I hope you don't mind.\" \"not at all\" I replied. She sat next to me and put her hand on my shoulder, her grip was tight and her touch was freezing as if she just got out of Artic waters. A feeling of acceptance rushed over me and a realization of why I've been so sad. \"you've been met with a terrible fate... Haven't you?\" the world became black, there was a Christmas tree and the lights sparkled, a beautiful star was at the top of the tree, my head rested on my mother's lap, and she was singing me to sleep, the lights on the tree slowly burnt out one by one, \"I'm scared\" \"It's okay I'm here, no one can hurt you, not even yourself, this is your sanctuary, I am always here for you\" the lights were burning out more quickly now starting for the bottom slowly reaching the top of the tree, only one light remained. \"You will always be my star, the one who brings light to my soul, and happiness to me, I'm sorry I couldn't have been there for you more.\" \"It's okay mommy, you helped me the best you could. \" the star at the top was the only light illuminating the room now \"It's so beautiful, how can it be so easily broken?\" I said \"it always seems the better something is the more fragile it becomes\" \"I love you mom\" \"love you too\" the star faded out and nothing but darkness remained. \"Time of death, 1:05 pm, Saturday, twenty-fourth of October. Causes of death: overdose. We also found a note in right hand side pocket, the only things that are legible state 'kids will be kids' and it's better to 'burn out then to fade away' All possibilities of murder have been ruled out, this was a suicide. All we need ma'am is his name\" \"It was Tommy, he was my little star... \"
