The name given at birth

Britany Gayle Hill

not even a year into existence I was mircale

strangers first introduction was daddy's package of pride

early years of school it was brace girl

at home, Bitbe or Brit

in a room full of excited children

screams the name of TEACHER TEAcHER!

to the best friend I am call me back

listen to my problems so you can cry too

to others at school repeat that please

the one that walks funny

the friend who listens with no real advice

on paper I am breezi

to afraid to share a real identity

after all names mean nothing

when I leave this wretched place

I won't shed a single name

only thoughts that drove me to insanity

beliefs that got me into trouble

yet fed pushing pride

I will leave these great understandings

of truths learned too early

in the day of life

these things will be a tattoo for eternity

left wherever feet have danced

my name will fade

with the silent wind.
