“Yo dude you should have been there went I to Lids. It was a mad crazy trip just to go to Lids and get the Phillies limited edition cap.” I told Luke.
“What happened man?” He asked me.
It all started while I was at home watching the Duke versus the Tar Heels game on Saturday. I was into the game and then a commerical came on and it said “Come on in and get our brand new limited edition Philadelphia Phillies cap.”
“Pause.” Luke said and laughed.
“I know that’s what I said” I explained.
When I saw it I liked the colors and it was only fifty dollars. I knew I had to get it. So I went to my computer to get some directions on how to get to Lids. As soon as I found out I grabbed my jacket and transpass. I took a five minute walk to the George Street bus stop. I waited at the stop. Ten minutes later , the bus still hadn’t come yet. I was starting to get mad cause I knew I had to get to Lids before they ran out of caps.
“I hate when that happens.” Luke interjected.
“I know.” I replied.
To make matters worse it started to rain and the wind picked up. I only had a jacket on and I didn’t want to go back home because the bus had to be coming soon. So I waited until some hobo came up to me and said “ Hey sir can you spare some change?” Then I said “ No man”. But then he started to get really agressive and he got closer to me. So I stepped back and the next thing I know is that I running from this guy because he wants to rob me. The guy yelling “ I’m going to get your money” and I’m like “ Naw Nigga”.
“Damn that’s nuts. That would never happen in Wisconsin.” Luke said
“Shut up cheese head” I exclaimed.
Next thing I know that I lost the hobo but I was in a place I never was in before. I walked around when people were yelling at me “ Get out of Here!” and “ You don’t belong here!”. I heard gun shots and girls screaming. I have to admit I was a little scared but I tried to man it out and act like I was going to beat someone up if they were going to mess with me.
“ You’re a whimp.” Luke said and laughed.
I replied “ Shut up!”.
So I picked up my phone and I was tempted to call my pop and tell him to pick me up but I really wanted to go get this hat. Instead I checked my phone for directions to get to the nearest bus stop that takes me to Lids. So I searched for the bus stop and found one that was close to me. I started to walk towards the stop. I had my guard up like a solider in the army. When I got to the bus stop I waited there until the bus got there. When I got on the bus I felt like a foreigner in a new country. It smelled like old shoes and dirty underwear.
“It smelled that bad?” Luke asked.
“ It smelled really bad and I wanted to puke.” I replied
“ That’s crazy!” Luke said back.
So I was on the bus for about an hour. When I finally got off I was so excited just to see the Mall. I walked in the Mall I finally saw it. I saw Lids. There was a problem though. As soon as I saw Lids I saw Modells and I had to make a decision on witch store should I go to. I knew that Modells had cheaper hats but sometimes they don’t have my size. I knew Lids were expensive but they probably had my size.
“ I would go with Modells because I always had good experiences there when I bought stuff there.” Luke said.
“ I know but I didn’t know what to do.”
I finally decided to go to Lids because I knew they would have the correct size for my head. So I walked in and I saw it. I saw the cap. It looked like the holy grail. It had the spotlight on it. I knew I had to buy it. As soon as I looked at the hat, I saw that line and it was long.
“Pause.” Luke interrupted and laughed.
“ Ha ha your really funny.” I said with a smirk on my face.
I then told myself  I took this long trip to get this hat and I was going to buy it. So I decided to wait in this long line. So I did and did for about an hour. I would move up one step at a time. While I was in line, I was staring at the hat. I was hoping that they would run out. There were two people in front of me now and there were only two hats left. When I go to the front desk and I saw the hat. So I asked for it and it was the last hat. When I asked for it, I heard people behind me sign in disappointment and they started to walk away. I went to pull out my wallet, and it was not in my back right pocket. I thought something must be wrong. So I checked my other pockets and it was not there either. I thought to myself “damn I must have left it at home.
“Thats sucks!” Luke said.
“I know.” I replied with disappointment.
