She wakes up late,
She always does.
She’ll stay out all night,
Her job requires her to.
With makeup,
She’ll cover her bruise.

Away into the dark,
To her corner on the street.
The money, her son,
That’s what she does it for.
She isn’t too expensive
But at least it gets them by.

When they pull up,
She’s as convincing as she can be.
Puckers her lips, winks slightly.
It’s dangerous, what she does,
But she has to keep her son.
He’s all she has, the only one.
