This poem doesn't rhyme, and so I apologize to those who have it planted in their head that all poetry does. I wrote this when my depression was at it's worst just three years ago from today.

Nothing is ever good enough

People always want more

I feel like I'm the hero

Everybody expects so much from me

But what they don't know is

I am not a hero

I am a fraud

A liar in a mask

I cannot do the things that everyone wants me to do

There is too much pressure in life

The pressure to fit in

The pressure to stand out

The pressure to be perfect

I feel as though I'll never get through

Perhaps I won't

What then?

If humans as a whole weren't so selfish and wrapped up in a fairy tale expression of perfection

Then perhaps it wouldn't be so hard
