It’s odd how you say you love me,
Yet you hurt every chance you get.
It’s odd how you say you’ll protect me,
But, these bruises are easy to see.
It’s odd that you used to love,
And now there is so much hate in your eyes,
It’s odd that you let him treat you that way,
Because, mommy, that’s not the best example.
It’s odd how you’ve lied to me my whole life,
You’re suppose to be the most honest of humans,
It’s odd that you hug me in the mornings,
And threaten to run away in the night,
It’s odd that I don’t feel sympathy when he strikes you,
It’s odd that I don’t feel when you cry,
I tried, oh I tried and tried.
But, mommy, all you ever did was lie.
