As the silence lingers

The chill takes my hand

The piercing howling

Fills the land.

The light in the sky

Casts an eerie shadow

While the trees bend and sway

Through the grass ridden meadow.

The clouds go on rolling

Sweeping over the moon

As the rustling of bushes

Ends not too soon.

The shudder feels familiar

The bristling reminds

Of long, old fears

In the back of my mind.
