Summary

Back in 1963, Martin Luther King had a dream, a dream where the nation would one day rise up and live out the true meaning of it's creed -all men are created equal-. Sadly, that dream it's yet to be accomplished. On the bright side, we're expanding that deam worldwide. I dream of a world where everyone would enjoy the same legal and social rights; were everyone would fall in love and not be judged by their preferences. A world were we're all equal. But, until we achieve that dream, all we can do it's fight, and not rest until we get there. You can't control who you fall in love with, and unfortunately for the judgmental people, we came to this world to be happy, not to be unhappy by making others happy. I hope you enjoy this poem :)

Held back by these oppressive chains;

Trapped within their cloudy judgment.

From my love only shattered remains,

Mutilated by a savage abortment.

With their moon they eclipsed the sunlight

Of the chorus of our unfinished song.

They burned down something that felt right

Just by claiming it was all wrong.

It pains me that they didn’t get

That for him my love was pure.

They took it as a threat,

And turned our world obscure.

They say in His eyes we’re all the same

But they prove it is all a vile lie.

Slowly dying our thoughts with color shame;

Breaking our souls and leaving them to die.

But from the ashes one day we’ll rise;

Misfits soon it’ll be our time to shine.

Throwing our fists up to the high skies

We’ll push to erase the segregating line.

Until the end together we stand;

And their lies our world won’t infect.

Our ways they may never understand,

But they’ll learn how to respect.
