This poem is about being unable to let go from the person that's hurting you. You know they're not good for you, yet they're the only ones making you feel safe, so you can't cut them off, even if you want to.

Hold Me ‘Til Tomorrow”

You used to be a total stranger;
They all said that you were danger.
Yet somehow I got hooked on you,
And there’s nothing I could do.

You lift me up when I’m down;
That’s why to you I’m bound.
And even though it’s for a night,
In my tunnel, you are the light.

And I know I’m toying with fire;
It’s like hanging on a wire.
Playing with you is a losing game;
I always walk away in shame.

I’m tired of breathing your toxic air,
But nobody said life was ever fair.
As much as I want to let you go,
You keep me from being low.

In the morning I might say it’s all over and gone;
I might walk around thinking I’m finally done.
But like kicks back and I’m drawn to you,
And there’s nothing I could ever do.

At night I start to think,
So I pour myself a drink.
It won’t send away my sorrow,
But it’ll hold me ‘til tomorrow.
