Thirteen nights after you broke my heart,
I took out my canvas and pail.
Mixed some fifty shades of pale;
now I’ll let destiny do its part.

Grabbed my brush and painted black,
All over the sweet blue sky.
Ripped where the lovebirds fly;
Then I ceased to see the crack.

With bear hands I painted fire,
all over the house we built.
With it, it burned by guilt;
all my passions and desires.

Then I cried a few tears,
When I saw that painting blasted.
And though untouched a long time lasted,
I am ready to face my fears.

I locked the blasted painting apart,
And with my renewed canvas I formed an alliance.
It’s true that Love might be a science,
but Letting Go is an Art.
