Since it's February, I'll try to post love-related poems this entire month. This one is about heartbreak; I tried to turn an emotion into an object to make it a little different. I hope you like this poem! :)

You gave me this love-colored rose;

With its color, darkness it froze.

And its petals as they grow;

Everything started to glow.

The sun came and brought his light;

The flower never shined so bright.

In my life nothing ever felt this right;

To guard this rose I’ll always fight.

And suddenly the winter came;

Everything started to feel like a game.

The petals slowly began to fall apart,

Losing the beauty it had at the start.

Even though I tried to heal,

For the sake of everything for you I feel.

You still spread your wings and went to fly,

Leaving here our rose left to die.

These tears I’ll cry no more;

Things will never be like they were before.

Your heart I cannot win back,

All I have now are these roses painted black.
