I started this poem last year but I was never able to finish it until now. If you've read my poems, I like to write about heartbreak and failed relationships. I don't relate to this poem, but I think many of you might; the best writers are the ones that are able to express someone else's feelings like if they were their own. Enjoy! :)

Minutes to hours;

Hours to days.

Your absence leaves a bitter sour;

It doesn’t have to end this way.

Door knock; I can see what’s coming by;

And these tears I cannot hide.

You came to say your final goodbye

And it’s tearing me inside.

Where did your love go?

It left this empty space behind.

Like a star it used to glow;

Now its light left me utterly blind.

I am barely breathing,

And nothing seems to be clear.

Just the thought of you leaving,

Fills my anatomy with fear.

Your mind you will not change,

And your will I will respect.

Though it will be strange;

this love I will neglect.

For me it’s a brand new start.

And while you live your life like you did before

I’ll be mending the pieces my shattered heart

Until it bleeds no more.
