Brown skinned momma has to bring home all the pay checks.

Her man is gone and the babies need a home.

Now the money's gone so she sells herself for cocaine.

Another baby comes, got to dump it in the trash can.

But that's just a slice

Of ever lovin' life

Not justice.

-

Now when the young man goes and fights for life and country,

And leaves his love and his baby back at home.

He kills a child at the village by the river.

Loves a girl but then he leaves her in the rice fields.

But that's just a slice

Of ever lovin' life

Not justice.

-

When the liers go and get themselves elected,

And they take an office like a prize upon a throne.

The money slips in right underneath the table

To grease the wheels that roll on over us below.

But that's just a slice

Of ever lovin' life,

Just a bitter slice

In this ever lovin' life

But not justice.
