I used to fly on the wings of the eagles,

And smile just as wide as the sky.

Every blade of the grass seemed so different,

I'd find heaven in a lemon peach pie.

-

My roller skates rolled every season,

I'd run a mile in a blink of an eye.

Birds would sing as I slept in their shadows,

The Earth blessed me whenever I sighed.

-

Now there's something that's subtly different,

I seem to wander after every goodbye.

The love and the laughter and beauty,

Are the same, but now I just want to cry.

-

I'm going to try until my knuckles are bloody,

I'll be searching until the day that I die,

For that love and that laughter and beauty,

If I could only stop wondering why.

-

So all you wonderful lovely young lovers,

And young poets with those words that can fly,

Hold on to the magic you give them,

And find heaven in a lemon peach pie.
