How 'bout them words?

Words are a puzzle,

Words are the cure,

Words are contagious,

They wash sadness away.

Some words are dirty,

But that's what clean people say.

Words are illusions,

Words are the facts,

Words carry meaning,

Just as long as they're light.

Some words are heavy,

But I'm not sure if that's right.

Words misbehave,

Words follow rules,

Words are for thinkers,

Through our history of thought.

But be careful of words,

If you don't want to get caught.

Words are momentous,

Words carry tunes,

Words drip with beauty,

They're stunning and bright.

Words wallow in darkness,

Like I thought that they might.

Words keep their secrets,

Words sometimes lie,

Words give us laughter,

They cut deep to the quick.

Words are forgiveness,

When they're not making us sick.

Words test our patience,

Words help us relax,

Words work for lists,

They help us to shop.

Words are concise,

Then we spend 'till we drop.

Words are beginnings,

Words say farewell,

Words fill up the middle,

They're a wonder to read.

Words should be planted,

We can harvest their seeds,

Words grow like gardens,

Just have to pull out the weeds.

How true, how true. We are born with words, we live by words, and hen we die, other words are spoken. If it weren't for words

A fine, very-true poem, Bruce, I would also say words are weapons, in the hands of a dick!

Well done! The philosopher, the comedian, the poet. Your use of words is entertaining and thoughtful as usual!

One can never appreciate words enough. I love the message! The flow, rhythm, and humor really do it for me. Nicely done :)

This is indeed wonderful! Easily a new favourite! In the hands of a master, words create beautiful things, like this poem. The rhythm seems almost whimsical, yet flows perfectly, even where it suddenly changes. The rhyme is also absolutely brilliant! What a neat idea to have second last and last line in pairs like that!
Bravo, Bruce! Bravo! :D
