I thought you were my friend.

All those sleepovers we had,

The secrets we told,

The laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

All the trouble we got into,

The detentions we sat through,

The laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

Those plots we planned,

Against Carissa and her gang,

The laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

The games we played,

The pranks we pulled,

The laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

Until that horrible day back in March,

When I found the note,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

The note was from you to Clarissa,

Our number one enemy.

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

The note read that,

You never really liked me,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

You used me so that Carissa could use it against me,

Everything in our lives together.

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

We’re only 12 years old,

But I’ve known you for 11 and a half years.

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

All those wasted sleepovers,

The secrets no longer secret,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

The trouble we got into for nothing,

The detentions we sat through for nothing,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

The plots we planned for Carissa,

All thrown back in my face,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

The games that could never be fun with anyone else,

The pranks are all now on me,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

Why did you do that to me,

Just to be popular,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

I see it in your face,

You hate all the fuss over nothing,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

It’s not proper friendship,

Anyone can see that apart from you,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

It’s not like the friendship we used to have,

Pure, true and loving,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

But you threw it all away,

For popularity,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

We may not have been the popular ones in our year,

But we definitely weren’t fake,

Remember the laughs we shared.

I thought you were my friend.

But I was definitely wrong,

I know that know.

What’s the point of remembering the laughs we shared,

As you’ve made it obvious we’re not going to share them anymore.
