Almost How I Pictured It

I can’t believe that I am actually with him right now, in the passenger seat of his old beat up Chevy truck. I always dreamed about this moment but never thought it would actually happen. I mean he’s the most popular guy at school, the star running back for the football team. Me? I’m just some outcast sophomore who likes to make animal noises at lunch.

I must say though, in my dreams I did picture this moment slightly different. In my dreams it was just him and me, me and him, Josh and I. I sat in the passenger seat and him the drivers seat. His car parked at the top of the hill and us looking down on the city, seeing all the bright lights. I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith is blaring through the radio each word hitting us like an electric shock. Slowly Josh laced his fingers through mine. They were a perfect match like we were meant to be. We gazed at each other for such a long time until Josh pulled me in for a kiss. It was slow, romantic, passionate, everything I thought it would be. But that was just a dream, and that wasn’t how the night was going.

This was what was actually happening. I was sitting on top of Josh’s best friend Anthony’s lap with duck tape over my mouth. Jay Z’s Forever Young blasting out the radio. If this is what the guys on the football time did for fun, they are obviously a couple of nut jobs. Minutes ago I saw Anthony key someone’s car and they had caught me looking. Apparently they had no other choice but the kidnap me and hold me hostage until I agreed not to tell anyone what I saw. They must have forgotten there was duct tape over my mouth because they started yelling at me when I didn’t answer them about agreeing not to tell anyone. I swear people can be so stupid sometimes I just want to slap them upside the head and tell them they were given a brain for a reason. The car slowly came to a stop, putting a cease to my thoughts. Josh got out of the car first, and then Anthony throwing me over his shoulder.

“Put her down” Josh said in his sexy deep voice,

Anthony slowly lowered me until my feet were planted firmly on the ground. Josh walked up to me. My heart was pounding inside of my chest.

“This is gonna hurt just a little” he said reaching his hand to my mouth and slowly pulling the tape off.

It did hurt, A LOT. But I barely felt it. My check was still tingling from when Josh’s fingers brushed up against it. My heart felt like it was going to melt. It was the most amazing feeling ever; it made my stomach turn into butterflies. Anthony’s angry (personally I think very unattractive) voice snapped me right back into reality.

“ YOU CAN’T TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU SAW OK?” Anthony was yelling at me.
Josh chimed in and tried to calm him down “Ant, you need to calm down, I don’t think she’ll tell anyone about you keying Nicole’s car, right?”
“Ye-Yeah, Sure” I replied stuttering like a fool.
“Cool” Josh said underneath his breath.

There was an awkward silence that followed. We all just looked around, not at each other but the ground or a tree off in the distance.

“So…when are you guys going to drive me back to my house?” I asked breaking the unbearable silence.
“Now” Josh said opening the car door.

I opened the opposite door and slid into the tiny middle seat. Anthony sat in the passenger seat. Airplanes by B.o.B was playing. Josh turned up the radio a little but louder. The car ride was quite besides for the mumbling of lyrics coming out of Anthony’s mouth. Last minute Anthony decided he wanted to get dropped off at his house.

“Bye guys” he said slamming the door closed and giving a little nod.

I slid over to the passenger seat. It was just Josh and me now in the car and we have a good 5 minutes before he gets to my house. This was the moment I’ve been waiting for since the beginning of freshman year; the first time I laid eyes on that stud. Don’t screw it up I kept saying to myself over and over again. We pulled out of the driveway once Anthony got safely inside of his house. We drove up the street and came to a halt at a traffic light. Josh looked at me.

“Sorry for everything that happened tonight. Sometimes Ant can get a little paranoid and blow things out of proportion.”

“It’s fine, I mean it didn’t seem like if was the first time you two have done something like this, you both were so calm and under control.”

Josh laughed “Yeah, kind of crazy to say but you have been the second girl who sat in this car with duct tape over her mouth.”

I smiled. When I looked up we were already outside my house.

“Thanks for the ride” I said opening the car door.

“It was my pleasure” Josh replied his voice sounding sexier then ever.

Just as I was about to shut the door, Josh grabbed my arm, pulled me close to him and kissed me check. I could feel the color shooting up my face so I casually closed the door and walked to my door. I turned around before walking in. Josh waved. I smiled and waved back as I watched his car slowly shift into drive and roll down the street.

Ok. So it was nowhere near how I imagined it but it was still a magical moment. At that point I then just realized how stupid I was. I had been calling Josh a stud for over a year now when really the correct term I should have been using was sexy beast.
