A reflective piece regarding love and our limited understanding of it. An observational view of that most important of emotions , which while so vital to us all , remains a double edge sword. Proceed with caution.

A Bump Along The Way

We had a moment bright and true , began a storymeandyou.

We wrote a chapter ; came up short ............another great unfinished work.

A shooting star lights up the sky , and wishes may be made , yet stars that fly , fly right on by.

They leave us gazing skyward.

It troubles me to think of love . It does demand such care.

When I tried to hold the love I'd touched , it sifted through my caloused hands , then turned and ran away.

Flares burn fast , but never last.

When they die the darkness cries , but still returns to fill the void.

So now we try to sort the times we laughed and sang together.

We tally the score , hope some more , and wonder why we shut the door.

In a pensive moment I remember passion waned.

Recall do I , a zenith reached which quickly slipped away

Our eyes meet 'cross a river , both standing on our bank , looking for a safe true way , to best the churning waters ; knowing that the safest course is just to stand on terra firma , and let that rapid river  flow through time.
