Take us back , you old guitar man , for a songs length , to  our youth .

Summon velvet wings , with your dancing strings . Fly us  to that place we knew .

Let your timeless , haunting ballad , waken slumbering  scenes of yore .

Light the passage way to  treasured  days , onfamiliar distant  shores .

Come iiluminate the shadowrooms . Hold a torch and let us see ,

while you weave a precious tapestry , with enchanting melody .

Have us gaze upon old hunting grounds , of a life we' ve  lived so fast ,

in a world but now remembered , stirring phantoms of the past .

Bring us home grey haired guitar man , to an era you helped mold .

With your Superband , you strode 'cross the land .Now you too are growin' old .

In a cooling Southern evening , touch my heart like some old friend .

Thirty years gone by , in a blinking eye . You won't pass this way again .

Play it bold fading guitar man , for the night is closin' in .

You're a bard sublime , and you play so fine , but ya' know you'll never win .

See those glory days behind you ? See the curtain halfway down ?

We so  love you old guitar man , but don't tarry in this town .

It's best ya' keep on movin' now , with your " boys " and all your gear .

Play your " Roundabout " with that special clout , you've honed finely through the years .

Take your gracious bows guitar man , but don't linger in the dream .

' Cause ya' know the only real place , is the place  you've never seen .
