Sitting at my bedroom window

I see the trees swaying from side to side

I see the cracks in the pavement

I watch as the children in my street run up and down the road

Smiling and laughing

So pure and free

No idea of what is yet to come

Innocence

It is so pure

Sometimes I think about those days

When I would sit upstairs for hours playing dolls

Just pretending and imagining

Everything just seemed so much easier

I never cared about what anyone thought of me

I was happy, that was all that mattered

Where did it all go?

It’s like one day; it all just went away

There was no turning back

All I know is

Those days of innocence

Were the best days
