There is an old willow tree

Sitting behind the worn down house

It’s been abandoned

Like the tree, it’s been abandoned

Beyond this creeky wooden house

Is a path

It’s been abandoned,too.

And the grass crawls up screaming to be tamed

A person

If willing;

Can still walk down this path

But like I’ve said before its been abandoned

This old willow tree

It cries in the wind saying

“I have been abandoned—

Why have I been abandoned?”

And it creeks

And it breaks

And it weeps

And so does the house

And so does the path

And yet they still do not know why

Why people no longer come to see what was once

Rather beautiful

But now they have been abandoned

And now they have been forgotten.
