It was still crackling and laughing at me. Why was it still laughing? I could see it clearly, the evil face that haunts me in my dreams smiling back at me through the blinding brightness.
I was lost in the middle of a forest. Nothing in sight except the obvious tree, nor could I hear any crickets chirping their nightly song. This place was unearthly. There was definitely something wrong, but what? What could be causing the forest to be so deathly quiet? I heard the crunch of a branch breaking. Could it be a wild animal, maybe? Then I heard the laughing, the malicious laughing of… of a person. The kind of laugh that lead me to believe I was being trapped. I wasn't sure whether to follow it or run. Fearfully, I froze. I didn't hear it come closer, so I quietly crept in the direction of the sound. I walked deeper into the forest, into the darkness, not knowing what to expect.
Then I heard the crunch of the forest floor. I heard another crunch, the sound became louder and louder. I realized I wasn't the one moving, the sound couldn't have come from me. I looked around for a place to hide. Nothing. I started running. I ran faster than I'd ever run before, until my legs were unsteady beneath my weight, until I could no longer breathe. I had to get away, far away. When I thought I was safe I stopped and looked around, I saw nothing nor could I hear anything, so I sat down to rest for a quick moment behind a tree before I started off again.
Little did I know how close the being was, how tired I was. Next thing I remember is waking up from a horrible nightmare, with a bright light shining in my face. Once my eyes adjusted I realized the bright light was a blazing fire. I was in the middle of a ring of fire. Why? How? I stood up looked around and saw the reason why.
It was still crackling and laughing at me. Why was it still laughing? I could see it clearly, the evil face that haunts me in my dreams smiling back at me through the blinding brightness. Sending a shiver up my spine. Why was I here surrounded by a ring of fire? Only he would know. The man that put me here, the man standing outside of the fire. My father.
