Parallels

It was raining the day I met you.

You reached out with shaking hands.

Before hello, you told me that I captured your heart.

Only for you to leave with the rain.

I miss you when I’m not supposed too.

It caught me off guard the way you cut me off.

You erased me from your life.

That’s okay; I did the same thing.

There’s not a trace left of you,

In the words, I’ve written.

You left some jagged edges,

and, I’m still cleaning up the damage.

I don’t cross bridges anymore – I burn them.

Because I’d let you come back.

One more time for one last hurt,

I just don’t think; I could survive you twice.

It wasn’t raining the day we met,

I was just foreshadowing a storm.

Speaking to you is pointless,

My words just get lost along the way.

All you hear is the rain.
