Part 1: The Bar

I see her across the room, all alone not knowing what to do. “Should I go talk to her?” I ask myself, I’m too shy to walk up to her and start a conversation with her. I stand there, staring as if im some sort of freak or stalker. A man walks up to her and makes her giggle, something inside me just died knowing that someone else has taken the women I had set my eyes on. It was all my fault, though, I didn’t go up to her and start talking, I just stood there from across the room staring. “Another one please ma’am” I said to the bartender barely keeping my balance. “I think you’ve had enough to drink; I’ll call you a cab” she said politely. The room started to spin as I tried to look around the room to see who was still here. I grab a hold of the bench at the bar, “Are you alright?” I hear from behind me, I turn to them to start up a conversation but as I turn I too see who it was, I freeze. It was the girl that was across the room from earlier that night “Yea, I….. I’m allllllrightttt now” I slur out while trying to get a grip before falling to the ground.

The light shining through the blinds hurt as I open my eyes. I squint to try and see where I am, I sit up in bed for a moment to gather myself. “I see you’re awake, feeling better?” A voice says from in the bathroom. “Yea, I’m feeling be” I went speechless the second I saw who it was that walked out of the bathroom. It was the women I was talking to last night before I passed out, it was the women I stared at for 30 minutes across the room, it was the women that was nameless to me. “I’m sorry” I say to her while looking her up and down. She had long wavy blonde hair, a nice tan that wasn’t too dark on her, her eyes were ocean blue which captivated anyone stared into them and she was only wearing a shirt that fell down to her thighs. “I’m sorry” I say again before introducing myself. “My name is Ashley, but you can call me Ash for short. Sorry about last night” I say rushing my sentence. “Nice to meet you Ash, my names Loren. Don’t worry about it, it’s all good. Luckily a few people helped get you into the cab or I would have been in trouble” Loren says with a sparkling white smile. She jumps onto the bed with me, it bounces a bit. Loren isn’t a big person, she would be about a size 10, about 5 foot 6. We sat on the bed for hours just talking to each other and having a laugh. I explained to her how I wanted to go up to her last night at the bar and have a talk with her but I was too shy to go up to her. She giggles as I tell her that, “That’s silly, no need to be shy” she explains to me. “I’m not one that many women would, how would you say it. Talk to?” I explain to her what has happened in my past how women would always ignore me.

Part 2: The Driver

She explains to me that she has to get ready to go to work shortly and that I am able to see myself out. The bed is about a king size, with perfectly fitted sheets, the pillows were unbelievably soft and fluffy. I turn to set let me legs hang off of the bed from the left, I closer inspect the room and see that she lives alone. “God she was game enough to bring someone she doesn’t know home into her own bed” I say to myself while inspecting the off cream walls with a burgundy feature wall behind the bed head. I get up to start walking towards the door that leads into the hallway, it is a fine piece of timber that looks to be handcrafted from Purple heart that goes well with the feature wall. I stop for a moment and let out an awe, the hallway through the door is a simple off-cream colour with a few pictures at head height. I take a closer inspection at the picture as I walk past them and in one of the pictures I see her with her father at what seems to be her university graduation. A little further down I see a picture of her when she was in elementary “Oh my god, no way” I say while looking at the picture. Before I leave to go back to my place I leave my number on her fridge with “I believe we need to talk” written on it.

The sun was scorching down onto the pathway leading to the road, it hurt to look at the white footpath. I take note of the street name and I haven’t got a clue where it is. The heat is taking a toll on my body, I should have had a look to see if there was a bottle of water in the fridge for me to take. A glimpse a cab at the end of the road, I give it a wave and whistle. The drive notices me and drives towards me, I jump into the cab. “Where to?” the driver asks before I could settle down into the chair. I give him my address, “Crazy night last night? Ey” he says. “What do you mean?” I ask him. He explains everything to me saying how he was the one who picked me up last night and took me her place. “You really don’t remember? Not even confessing to that pretty young girl?” he says with a smirk on his face. “CONFESS?!, What did I confess?”. “Ohhh nothing important, don’t you worry about it” he says almost cracking into a fit of laughter.

Part 3: Work

Once I arrive at work after shortly being home just to get changed and have a fast shower I started to feel light headed, this may have happened due to me having to travel up 23 floors on the lift. “Crazy night?” I hear from the receptionist at the front desk “Yea, kinda” I respond to him while holding onto the wall. Maybe I shouldn’t have been in such a rush to make it to work on time and cause myself so much trouble. “Hey, look who it is” Oliver says while poking his head over the cubicle wall, “Yea, yea. I know, it was a crazy night apparently”. Oliver was a good friend of mine that decided to join me on the journey to the pub, little did he know I was going to get wasted last night, “Should have told me you were a little softy, might have went a little easier on you with the booze” laughing as he says that. “Do you remember that girl I left with last night by the way?” I ask while im typing away on my computer, “Yea the hot blonde? Mate who could have forgotten her? And those eyes of hers” I cut him off to explain to him what happened and who she is. “Are you serious? You went to school with a hottie like that and you don’t remember?” he yells at me with a hushed voice.

It’s midday and I start to feel hungry, so I decide to take my break and head off to this new café that has opened up just down the road from work. “Oliver, want to join me at the new café?”, I ask but I get no response only to see that he has already left for his lunch break. After about 10 minutes’ walk I arrive at the new café, I order a cappuccino with a ham cheese toastie. It only took 5 minutes for them to make, but the second I pulled the two halves of the sandwich apart cheese just filled up the gap and fell to the bottom of the plate, “Now this is what you call a toastie” I say to myself. After enjoying myself for 30 minutes I decide it’s time for me to go back to work, I pay for the meal and leave a tip. Bzzttt, Bzztttt. I grab my phone to see a number that I haven’t seen before, “Hello, Ash speaking” I say politely. “Yes Ash, this is Loren. You left your number on my fridge earlier today saying that we have to talk?”. “Yea, ummm. Did you attend Komel elementary?” the other side goes silent for a second “Hello, still there Loren?”. “Yes, yea sorry about that” she sounded puzzled answering that question, as if she wasn’t sure that she attended that school at first.
