He's the only one
Who knows my secrets
Without me having to tell them.
He sees the scars on my soul
Through the irises of my eyes
And feels the pain I feel
Deep within my chest
But never show.

I don't need to show it
When he's around
Because it's like the past
Has been erased.
And not even the soft pink shavings
Remain on the nearly blank sheet
Of paper that I call
My Quiet little life.

And while he may forget me someday
For now I savor the moment
Bask in my undeserving joy
Until he sees reason
And leaves me for a brighter sky
That promises sunfilled days
So the pain will return, but I'll endure
As my scars begin to bleed again.
