I catch the light as you twist me ever so slowly around in your hand,

Examining my every detail

I shine and like a mirror, you can see yourself,

But you don't want to see yourself, not anymore.

You make your best attempt.

Hold me close to your body,

Press long and hard.

I slide across your skin, cutting you deep.

You see it.

You see what you've been waiting for,

Red.

Running, dripping, slowly.

Not fast enough for you.

You try again, this time deeper and harder,

You lay.

Lay back and drift. Drift slowly into a new place.

Somewhere dark.

Somewhere warm.

Anywhere but here.
