Attic Dwellers

by Candice Ann Moraga

A fairy caught in a blizzard

Waiting for spring so that her wings may thaw

A light-bulb

10,000 watts

Sitting in the back of a storage closet

A seed lying dormant under a protective covering

Floating on the wind

Waiting for the right time

The right place to grow roots

A flute without breath

Lying in its case

Dull in the dark, but bright & shiny when taken out

An engagement ring without a promise

Lying in a case with no light to expose the sparkling diamond

Sand on the beach

Imagine it melting into a spectacular sight on the cathedral walls

Eyes that do not see the sun

HEARTS…

That do not FEEL LOVE

Minds that are not OPEN
