Going Numb

by Candice Ann Moraga

Ever have one of those days… where you’re just biding your time?

Waiting for something exciting to happen

Like The End of the World

…Or possibly some random natural disaster?

A day that seems so long and pointless…

That your dream-life starts to become more REAL…

Than the one being lived by your body?

Then maybe you’ll understand…

How I’ve been feeling for the last God-knows-how-long

This month’s not much better than the last…

And I’m almost wishing for a little turmoil…

Just to remember I’m still ALIVE

Right now – I’m not exactly SURE

What my REASONS for hangin’ on are

But there must be somethin’ –

Because I DON’T PLAN ON GIVING UP

What would make this day worthwhile?

A HUG.

A PHONECALL.

Hello – is there anybody out there?
