Two pairs of brown eyes stare up at distant clouds and stars

Planes fly overhead and they hear the sounds of cars

But they wait together under a dark blue sky

For that one magical shooting star to come passing by

The winds blow softly, whispering to the trees

And a boy of ten rises to his knees

"Dear sister," he says with an impatient voice

"We've been for waiting so long now!" and she replies, "We have no choice."

He sinks back to the ground with a sweet little frown

And she pats his shoulder, she knows he is down

"Now, dear brother," she says, "Why so upset?"

"Because!" he exclaims, "Not one shooting star yet!"

She chuckles and points up to the sky

He sees the constellations and wonders why

"Why do they form the pictures they do?"

"The pictures, brother? They're up to you."

"Let's make a story, for each different one,

Until at last, we do see the sun."

And so they do, they laugh and create

Stories for each, some unreal, some sedate.

But in the end, there is one thing for sure

They love the time spent together, just he and her.
