Before me stands Miss Amazing, in her armour with the cartoonesque bunny skull crudely painted onto the chest plate. She is not wearing her blonde wig or mask and her long dark hair flutters gracefully in the wind. Her eyes are dark and wet, a tear slowly makes its way down her blushed cheek.

I reach out to touch her as she is says something to me, I do not hear what she is saying as the wind whips up around my ears in a torrent. Before I can do anything she slowly fades away into blackness, the shadow behind her caresses and wraps its arms around her and pulls her in. I shout after her but only the merest of whimpers issues forth.

As I try to chase after her a giant hand comes out of the shadow and grabs me. I see in the darkness a single giant eyeball looking at me, judging me, slowly a face is revealed, the Cyclops is calling to me but the wind makes it impossible to hear anything.

The Cyclops pulls a cowl over its head and face to reveal Magpie grinning at me. I do not hesitate as I lunge at him and take him by the throat.

“Where is she?” I shout at him, “what have you done to Miss Amazing?”

He does not answer me. The rage builds up in me and I feel his throat begin to brake in my hands. With one final jolt I twist his head and feel satisfied when his neck snaps. His head lolls to one side, hollow eyes staring up at me and he is grinning a big wide toothy grin.

The darkness begins to fade and I see that I am stood atop a cliff overlooking the sea, my guess is the English Channel. As I look round a mass thunders toward me, I brace myself to jump out of the way but it stops just as it gets to me and I see that it is the Cyclops.

“This way” it says to me and I just look at it, confused.

Without warning or provocation the Cyclops pushes me off the cliff with immense force that I fly far form the edge. I except it, I stare up at the stars and anticipate the pain that is to follow, but it does not come, just the wosh of the wind in my ears that slowly fade and I sit bolt upright in a brilliant white room.

I recognise the room as the medical laboratory of the Consortium HQ, hidden deep within the bowls of Mount Snowden in Wales. Around me a few people stand. Cannonball, Ultiman, Psyclopse and Miss Amazing. They all look at me with intensity, especially Miss Amazing.

Psyclopse is the first to speak, he fidgets his eyepatch.

“Good to have you back friend, I thought for a moment I was not going to be able to unlock your mind.”

I just smile at him and Miss Amazing throws herself at me, arms wrapped around my head, she squeezes me so tight it almost chokes, but I don't mind, it feels like I have been away for so long.

“It is time we talked about dealing with Magpie.” Ultiman says in his flat serene voice.

“Agreed, we need a plan” I reply.
